Local dance guide
St. Petersburg has a small but genuinely active Salsa and Bachata social scene. Recurring public ballroom and swing socials inside the city itself are much harder to find. This guide covers what we could actually verify in 2026 — not a long list of venues copied from older guides.
This update concentrates on St. Petersburg, where we were able to check things first-hand. Where a well-known Tampa Bay venue has changed or closed, we say so below rather than leaving the old listing standing.
Dance schedules here change often, and several venues that older guides still recommend are no longer hosting public dancing.
We link to organizers and official calendars wherever we can. Check the current listing before you drive out — dates, prices and start times move between editions.
St. Petersburg
Three Latin social-dance series were running in St. Petersburg during 2026. None of them publishes a fixed weekly or monthly schedule, so treat each one as 'check the date first'.

A recurring Salsa night run by RELPro Events & Entertainment, with The Dance Factory Tampa Bay also credited. Editions run through the year, but the spacing between them is irregular and each one sets its own theme, format, price and start time — so there is no standing schedule to rely on.
Upcoming when this guide was last verified on August 29, 2026: a Salsa edition on Sunday, September 20, 2026, listed as 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with a dance class at 5:00 PM and $15 entry. If you are reading this later, the listing below is where the next date appears.
Steep Station Kava Bar · 2235 1st Ave S, St. Petersburg
A Bachata-led night — roughly 70% Bachata and 30% Salsa at the edition we checked — held in a kava bar rather than a studio or a club. The most recent edition we verified was August 27, 2026, with a class at 7:00 PM and social dancing from 8:00 PM to midnight.
Bachata Jungle has run repeated editions in St. Petersburg through 2026, but the dates are irregular and we could not establish a fixed pattern. We also could not confirm a date after August 27, and the venue has no official website we could cite — the night is promoted through its organizers' own social media rather than a published calendar. Treat it as a series that has been active recently rather than a night you can turn up to on spec, and search for the current edition by name before making the trip.
Outcast Brewing Company · 1776 11th Ave N, St. Petersburg
An ongoing series of afternoon-into-evening Latin socials at a brewery, with a free class before the dancing and free admission. Recent editions have been billed as family friendly, ran indoors and under cover, and featured DJ Mambito. Five editions ran during 2026, the most recent on August 9.
The gaps between editions vary from a few weeks to a couple of months, and the guest instructor — and with them the style taught in the class — changes each time. No date after August 9 had been posted when we checked, so the brewery's own calendar is the place to look.
Ballroom
This is the honest gap. Our August 2026 research found no currently recurring public ballroom social inside St. Petersburg city limits — somewhere you could turn up on a regular night and social dance Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba or Cha-Cha.
The Coliseum is the venue people usually think of, and it did host ballroom and tea-dance activity in years past. Reviewing the City of St. Petersburg's own published event records for 2026, the only clear dance event at the Coliseum was Swing Gang's Swing Dance USA presents The Jive Aces Live! on March 19, 2026 — a one-off ticketed show rather than a recurring social. A long-running New Year's Eve dance has been held there in previous years and may return, but no 2026 edition was listed when we checked.
That is a statement about what we could verify, not a claim that ballroom dancing has vanished from the area. Private and members' events exist that never appear on a public calendar.
Our Wednesday group class at 7:00 PM is open to the public and beginner-friendly, with a different style each week and no partner needed. It is a taught class rather than a social dance evening — worth knowing if what you want is a floor to dance on all night.
Our Friday practice party is for current students rather than a public social, so it is not the place to drop in on a first visit.

Corrections
Often still listed as a St. Petersburg music and dance venue. Its own website now describes it as a private events venue, and says it was formerly home to live ticketed performances. The business is active — it simply is not a place to turn up for public dancing.
Not in St. Petersburg, but for years the anchor of nearly every Tampa Bay dance guide — including our own older version of this page. The City of Gulfport's notice states the historic Casino is closed until further notice following damage from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Weekly dance times still circulating online refer to the period before it closed.
The afternoon tea dance is still widely repeated online. We could not find a current recurring tea-dance series in the City of St. Petersburg's official 2026 event records. The Coliseum itself remains an active venue hosting concerts, expos and private events.
How the scene works
The most useful thing we learned researching this page: St. Petersburg's Latin social dancing is organized by promoters, not by venues. A series belongs to the person running it, and it travels with them — a restaurant one season, a brewery or a kava bar the next.
RELPro Events & Entertainment is the clearest example locally, running nights at more than one venue. That is also why old venue-based dance lists go stale so quickly: the venue is still there and still open, but the dance night moved somewhere else, or paused.
So when you find a night you like, follow whoever organizes it rather than bookmarking the address. It is the difference between showing up on the right night and showing up to a quiet bar.

Outcast Brewing has also run a series of free Salsa and Bachata socials, and Bachata Jungle at Steep Station includes Salsa alongside Bachata. None of the three runs to a fixed schedule, so confirm the date before going.

Our August 2026 research found no currently recurring public ballroom social inside St. Petersburg city limits. Separately, Dance Passion's Wednesday group class at 7:00 PM is a public, beginner-friendly taught class covering ballroom and Latin styles on a rotating basis — not a social dance night.

For the third-party events above we could not verify partner policies, so it is worth asking the organizer. At Dance Passion's own Wednesday group class, no partner is needed.
